man kann eben doch auf deutsch über die liebe und ihr scheitern singen, ohne schlagermusik zu machen! auf alle liebe nachträglich lassen mine und fatoni kitsch und schwulst keinerlei raum: es geht um den scherbenhaufen danach, die konsequenzen eigenen handelns, die unumkehrbarkeit einmal getroffener entscheidungen und das wissen um all diese dinge. was bleibt nach dem ende einer beziehung? verletzte gefühle, vorwürfe, ein scherbenhaufen – und manchmal ein song wie »keine liebe nachträglich«.
die elektronisch grundierte popmusik, die mine und fatoni zu diesem dialog finden, vollbringt ein wahres wunder. mit anklängen an ndw, pop noir, und hiphop illustrieren die beiden ihr anliegen kongenial. diese musik entwickelt eine unwiderstehliche sogwirkung, weil man gleich spürt: mine und fatoni verraten ihre themen nicht. deshalb gelingen ihnen momente aufrichtiger wahrhaftigkeit.

imagine a collab between cabaret voltaire and eric copeland mixed by the scientist and you’ll start to enter the sphere of robin asselman. all spectrums explored. the off kilter dub waltz of ’16-16’ stutters into view with a heavy and heady rolling dread, whilst inaudible vocal snippets and flatlining synth lines echo and enforce a melee of repetition and danger. ‘fitness talk’ perhaps best showcases assel’s interest in dubwise production techniques, and his ability to soak up a palette of sound and turn it into something truly his own. soft familiar bass pads provide the backbone here for all out sample mayhem, a space where recognisable dub effects and sonars vibe alongside absolutely unsettling outer samples of jarring vocals and inaudible upset, purposefully mixed to jolt ears into unfamiliar territories. being the nephew of dj marcelle, this experimental approach and inspiring concept of pushing samples to the absolute limits of their origin to create a new unexplored path is clearly something that has been fed down from marcelle to robin throughout his youth....

a selection of forgotten demos by band hymn, active 1981-1984, with multi-talented musician and post-punk pioneer lucas trouble (†2016) in the lineup. dition of 400 numbered copies. hand stamped sleeve. includes insert with photos, artwork and liner notes. all the tracks were originally self-released as demo tapes in a very limited run. their first work, coming home, was published in 1983, and the second one, too many lies, in 1984. both of them were distributed by the band themselves. shortly after, they released a more widely known 12” ep, tired (nova express, 1984), with a different line-up and noticeably more rock-oriented. definers of a totally genuine sound, hymn were coevals to the underground-synth-post-punk movement that surfaced in france in the early eighties, easily recognisable today via cult labels such as bain total and invisible/scopa records, with stunning releases by experimental references like ilitch, philippe doray or incontinents.
